About

My adventures in (and attempts to decipher)everything that is overtly ignored by most. My admittedly mostly grossly uninformed ramblings about various topics. And some that I might actually know something about.

You can do this. I can do this. We can do anything.

Sooo, I read a magazine article about a guy who got hit by a semi, was in a coma for many months, and who proceeded to within the next year be on a college swim team AND BE COMPETING IN MARATHONS…..AND TRIATHLONS. WHAT THE HECK!? Why is that not me?  Well because I’m not at all a natural athlete.  BUT, it is still unbelievably inspiring.  If a guy who was never supposed to walk again without the help of a miracle can be a triathlete, why can’t I? Or at the very least, why can’t I run for longer than 30 mins straight?

What’s that?  OH! I CAN! Nice.

It is just unreal that someone can change their situation so much, that they are so determined to get where they want to be that the pain is oh-so-worth-it.  They are not bogged down by the ultimate definition of failure (or impossibility), in that they literally CAN NOT do what they are attempting to do. Yet somehow, that impossibility is rendered moot and becomes WAY accomplishable.

The only way he was able to accomplish something this fantastic, to complete this drastic of a goal was to ignore the failures and to keep on trekking outside of them.  To be stubborn as hell against himself, which is extremely hard, even for the most hard-headed among us, was the only way for him to push past his natural, “possible” limits——into the territory of the extraordinary.
